On Saturday, November 7th at the Bay Area Science Festival, we helped families build the largest SF Giants LEGO Logo Ever Built at AT&T Park…that we are aware of. The SF Giants LEGO Logo was 7.5 Ft tall and made up of over 11,000 LEGO Bricks. It took approximately 6.5 hours to build and over 400 families participated in the build. Check out some of the pictures and video of the build below.
You can see the beginning of the sign in the bottom right hand corner. We started at 9:30 AM.
People were quite excited to visit our booth, as they got to play with LEGO motorized projects, as well as build the SF Giants LEGO Sign.
We have started to make progress, but we got a long way to go.
Even the President of Play-Well came out to help, as we knew over 18,000 people would show up for the Bay Area Science Festival. Great turnout!
Some of the San Francisco Giants employees even came out to build. We asked each of them if they had ever seen a SF Giants LEGO sign that big before, and they all said they had not.
Even The Special from the LEGO movie was welcome families to our booth. Play-Well, Everything is Awesome, and Love are the messages on this conveyor belt.
Steady progress is being made. Time to start stepping on stools.
A lot more progress has been made, especially around the bottom. This kids can build fast.
We are making sure to get every nook and cranny. No space will be missed.
This father put both of his sons on his shoulders in order to finish the middle of the sign.
When you can’t reach, time to get on the shoulders. This became more of a common practice after awhile.
A larger and larger crowd build around the Giants LEGO logo throughout the day.
Many a Giants fan came out to help out.
We are close to finishing the S and F in the LEGO sign.
Even the little ones helped out way up top.
Not sure what we love more. The child at the very top or that awesome SF Giants jacket.
We were very excited that we could be part of one of the first ever STEAM Carnivals.
We had Play-Well staff help out with the last part of the sign, as it was too tall at that point for many kids to reach.

Crowds came for the sign, but stayed to play with many of our LEGO Engineering Motorized projects.
Even a 2 year old can make a different in helping us to finish this SF Giants LEGO Logo.
Even some Junior Giants came out to help us build this SF Giants LEGO Logo.
So close to being finished.
Final touches.
It’s finally complete. Over 11,000 LEGO Bricks and build in just over 6.5 hours.
We think it came out great.
Over 400 families helped us add a few pieces each to this SF Giants LEGO logo.
We could not have accomplished this or even had the opportunity to make this without the support of the Bay Area Science Festival. Thanks for having us and being open to the idea.
We hope every family appreciated being a part of this huge LEGO build. We hope to do it again soon.
Here is the Play-Well crew that helped make this a reality. Great job!
The SF Giants LEGO Logo is currently being displayed at our engineering educational center, Play-Well Marin.
On Saturday October 3rd, 2015 Play-Well participated in Dropbox’s Family Fun Day on Treasure Island in the Bay Area of California.
Dropbox in LEGO.
Even the paramedics got into the action of playing with LEGO.
Much of the Dropbox staff loved playing with LEGO.

If you enjoy fun, quirky events at your company’s happy hour, local bar, or co-working spot, you might want to look into having a Brews & Bricks event at your pub. Your patrons get an opportunity to play with LEGO, participate in some LEGO games, all while having a nice beverage. Recently, Rock Bottom Brewery welcomed Play-Well staff to test out this concept at their Bar in Denver, Colorado.
Attendees got to build jousting LEGO monorail vehicles and participate in a LEGO Engineering Battling Tournament called Battletracks.
Two attendees hard at work on their jousting monorail project.
The building has picked up momentum as the clock is ticking before the tournament starts.
Some teams chose to collaborate with each other and form alliances.
The place was packed with enthusiastic, LEGO builders.
Some teams built for strength, while others built for beauty and strength.
Let the battling begin.
There was, of course, a little trash talking between matches.
Time for our annual Play-Well Halloween Contest. Each year, we are amazed by the creativity of some of the Halloween costumes that we see from our students and their parents. Check out this costume submitted by a parent last year.
This year, we wanted to celebrate that creativity by having a Halloween Costume Contest. Post your Halloween costume on our Twitter Page, Facebook Page, tag us on Instagram, or email it to jeff@play-well.org, and you could possibly win a Play-Well Halloween LEGO Bow Tie or LEGO Force Awakens Set.
This is how we play well on Halloween!
One of our Play-Well Staff created this elaborate setup to give kids candy for Halloween.

At the 2015 I Love API’s Conference, the largest Digital Accelerator Conference in the world, we provide their attendees the opportunity to build their conference logo out of LEGO. Here is what they came up with. If you’d like us to provide a special event for your organization, simply visit our Special Events page and complete our request form.
On Friday, October 16th, 2015, Twitter held their semi-annual #FridayForGood event where employees from around the country volunteer at local non-profit organizations. We built their Twitter For Good Logo out of LEGO and had Twitter staff help complete the sign. Here were the results:
#FridayForGood
Here is the beginning of the Twitter for Good logo.
This Twitter staffer had a custom-made LEGO Minifigure of himself made. Looked just like him.
The designer of the Twitter For Good logo came to help build his design in LEGO.
We collaborated with a Girl Scout Troop in Ventura County in a Build-A-Car Event. The Ventura County Star came out to report on the event.
“This past weekend, Play-Well TEKnologies hosted 17 Girl Scouts from four different Daisy troops throughout Ventura County in a Build-A-Car Event. Each Daisy Scout, aged 5 to 7, was able to build and operate a motorized car and learn about the physics behind each car part.
Girl Scouts are committed to empowering girls – especially in fields that need a greater presence of girls, like Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Play-Well TEKnologies is an educational outreach committed to teaching STEM concepts to all children through Legos and play.”
The San Francisco Giants held the first ever professional sporting event LEGO Day on Saturday, September 12th, 2015. We invited Play-Well families to come out to the event and over 100 families decided to come. To identify them amongst the tens of thousands of people that were there, we distributed Play-Well SF Giants LEGO Bow Ties. This was really helpful, as we were able to find them amongst the crowd. Here are some pictures from the event.
The President of San Francisco Giants sporting one of our Play-Well LEGO Bow Ties.
Check out the three. A Child, a mini LEGO Seal Mascot, and the three Seal Mascot. Simply awesome.
We brought 30 extra SF Giants LEGO Bow Ties with us just in case we had additional families that wanted them. A lot of people asked us, where did we get the LEGO Bow Ties?
Some of our Play-Well staff got to see kids that they have taught at LEGO Day. We could identify this family by both the LEGO Bow Ties and the cape.
This family had a nifty way of wearing their SF Giants LEGO Bow Ties. It almost led to a perfect game.
Even the President of Play-Well Tim Bowen and his wife came to the event.
LEGO unveiled their SF Giants LEGO Buster Posey statue before the game.
Buster Posey statue was made up of over 20,000 pieces of LEGO and weighed over 85 lbs.
Here is LEGO Master Builder Chris explaining how he built it.
Some of our staff and our families posing between innings.
Our LEGO Designer, Marco, Michael our San Francisco Manager and his family.
We saw this family’s LEGO Bow Ties on the BART ride there.
We even gave one to the concession stand guy. Looks good.
This family came all the way from Roseville, CA for the event.
Steve Parmley, one of the coordinators of Bricks By the Bay, even attended with his family. Check out his SF Giants necklace made out of LEGO.
Thanks San Francisco Giants and LEGO for putting this event together. We hope to attend it again next year.
